  6. Q: What is the maximum number of questions that I can  place
  7. in a .QZ quiz file?
  8.  
  9. A: For the UNregistered,  trial copy, the maximum  number of
  10. questions per .QZ file is  30.  Once you register,  you will
  11. be sent  the latest  version of  the program,  which has  no
  12. such  limitation.   The  registered  copy  of  Create A Quiz
  13. allows up to 999 questions per quiz.

  17. Q: What is the maximum number of quiz files that I can  keep
  18. in my directory and have displayed in the quiz pick list?
  19.  
  20. A: For the UNregistered,  trial copy, the maximum  number of
  21. .QZ files that you can create  is 10.  Once we receive  your
  22. registration, and  you are  mailed a  registered version  of
  23. the program,  the number  of .QZ  files you  can create in a
  24. single  subdirectory  or  on  a  floppy disk is 256 quizzes.
  25. This does NOT mean that the program quits functioning  after
  26. you create  your 256th  quiz.   No!   This simply means that
  27. you  cannot  have  more  than   256  quizzes  in  a   single
  28. subdirectory.  You can always  move or archive .QZ files  to
  29. another directory or disk should you reach this number.

  33. Q:  How  many  lines  of  text  can one place in a reference
  34. file?

  36. A:  The  reference/help  files  have a maximum limit of 2000
  37. lines.

  41. Q:  What is missing from the "Lite" version of Create A Quiz
  42. in respect to features?
  43.  
  44. A: In  order to  provide an  alternative to  those users who
  45. don't need many  bells and whistles,  the "Lite" version  of
  46. Create  A  Quiz  is  available.   It  is  a  less  expensive
  47. alternative.  However several features are missing  from the
  48. "Lite" version, such as:
  49.  
  50. ∙ The "Lite" version does not support any command line
  51.   parameters.
  52.  
  53. ∙ The "Lite" version does not support .PCX file images
  54.  
  55. ∙ The "Lite" version does not support supplemental .HLP
  56.   help or reference files during a quiz.
  57.  
  58. ∙ The "Lite" version does not support quiz prerequisites.
  59.  
  60. ∙ The "Lite" version editor cannot export questions to a
  61.   secondary .QZ file.
  62.  
  63. ∙ The "Lite" version only allows one screen display format
  64.   - that is, the pop-up window format only - no A, B, C's.
  65.  
  66. ∙ The "Lite" version does not support password protection
  67.   of your quiz files.

  69. ∙ The "Lite" version does not record an error log of
  70.   questions that you miss during a quiz.  This screen
  71.   review of missed questions normally appears after the
  72.   scoreboard display after a quiz.  This feature is not
  73.   part of the "Lite" version.

  75. By the way, the  version of Create A  Quiz that you are  now
  76. evaluating  is  NOT  the  "Lite"  version,  but  rather  the
  77. full-featured Teacher's version.

  81. Q: Why do the same questions keep reappearing when I take  a
  82. quiz?
  83.  
  84. A:  You  are  most  likely  taking  a quiz that has very few
  85. questions in  it, and  you are  using "Order:  4,1,8,3,5..."
  86. from  the  "Play  options"  menu  (the  default).   If   the
  87. questions  are  being  presented  to  you  in  random  order
  88. (instead of  sequentially) then  the smaller  the number  of
  89. questions in a  .QZ file, the  more frequently you  will see
  90. the same questions.  In other words, if a .QZ file has  only
  91. 10  questions  in  it,  you  will  see  much  repetition  of
  92. questions in  a very  short time,  for there  are not enough
  93. questions to  make the  random mode  useful.   If you have a
  94. small .QZ file,  then you are  better off using  the "Order:
  95. 1,2,3,4,5..."  from  the  "Play  options"  menu.   This will
  96. present each question once, in order.  Another option is  to
  97. use the "NODUPES" command line parameter, which will  insure
  98. that when taking  a quiz in  random mode that  there will be
  99. no duplication of questions.

  103. Q: Does  Create A  Quiz support  the playing  of .WAV  audio
  104. sound files?
  105.  
  106. A: No,  currently it  does not.   If we  get enough feedback
  107. from registrants, we may add this feature in the future.

  111. Q: Is there a Windows version of Create A Quiz?
  112.  
  113. A: Currently there is no  Windows version.  However, we  are
  114. working towards producing one in the near future.

  118. Q:  I  would  like  to  view  the contents of the scoreboard
  119. files without having  to enter the  quiz for a  second time.
  120. Is there any way to see what is inside the .SCB files?
  121.  
  122. A: We have a separate  utility that is available to  do just
  123. this.  The utility is available at the time of  registration
  124. for  $8.00  ($15.00  if  purchased  at  a later  date).  The
  125. "Scoreboard Browser" will  display a file  pick list of  all
  126. the .SCB files  available.  Upon  selecting one of  the .SCB
  127. files, the scores will be displayed in the traditional  "Top
  128. 10 score chart" format (as seen at the end of each quiz).

  132. Q: Do  you do  custom modifications?   In other  words,  our
  133. company needs a  few special changes  to the program  to fit
  134. our needs.

  136. A:  We  would  be  glad  to  consider  making changes to the
  137. program  to  fit  your  specific  needs.   Provide us with a
  138. detailed description of what  your company needs in  the way
  139. of  modifications,  and  we  will  provide  you with a price
  140. quote.

  144. Q: Do you have a foreign language version of Create A Quiz?

  146. A: Yes, we have a FRENCH version.  Contact us for details.

  150. Q: Can I distribute my quizzes to others?
  151.  
  152. A: The Teacher's version of  Create A Quiz (the version  you
  153. are  currently  using)  when  registered  is  licensed  to a
  154. single individual, for use on a SINGLE computer.  Resale  or
  155. distribution  of   Create  A   Quiz  is   prohibited.    The
  156. "Teacher's version" is  just like a  copy of WordPerfect  or
  157. Microsoft  Word.    You  can  share   your word   processing
  158. documents with co-workers,  but copyright laws prohibit  you
  159. from making copies  of WordPerfect or  Word.  Likewise,  you
  160. can do anything  with the .QZ  files that you  generate, but
  161. the  Teacher's  version  of  Create  A  Quiz  program itself
  162. (QUIZ.EXE)  is  copyrighted,  and  can  be  used on only one
  163. computer at any given moment.

  165. If you wish to distribute  your quizzes to others   there is
  166. a  solution,  however.   We  have  available  a   "Student's
  167. version"  of  Create  A  Quiz,  which  can  be  used  in   a
  168. multi-user   environment.    The   "Student's   version"  is
  169. identical to the "Teacher's version", with two exceptions:
  170.  
  171. 1) The "Student's version" does  NOT have the "Create a  new
  172. quiz" selection from the Main Menu.
  173.  
  174. 2) Nor does it have the "Edit an existing quiz" in the  Main
  175. Menu.
  176.  
  177. These two options are  removed from the "Student's  version"
  178. in order to prevent  users from  accidently or intentionally
  179. peeking at the answers, or changing your work.

  181. The  "Student's  version"  is  sold  separately  (see prices
  182. below),  however  at  least  one  copy  of  the   "Teacher's
  183. version" is still required (or  how else would you create  a
  184. quiz?).

  186. The "Student's  version" also  has some  restrictions in the
  187. way of distribution:

  189. 1)  The  "Student's  version"  for  non-profit organizations
  190. allows  a  non-profit  organization  to  make  an  unlimited
  191. number  of  copies  of  the  "Student's version" at a single
  192. site,  as  long  as  the  program  is  not  sold for profit.
  193. Schools  and  charitable  organizations  would fit into this
  194. category.   A  "school"  would   be  defined  as  a   single
  195. location, and not an entire  school district.  The cost  for
  196. such a license is USA $60.00 per site.

  198. 2) The "Student's version  for businesses is $120.00.   This
  199. license  allows  a  single  business  location  to  make  an
  200. unlimited number  of copies  of the  "Student's version"  as
  201. long as the program and  quizzes are not sold, and  that all
  202. copies are maintained at a single site location.  Copies  of
  203. the "Student's version"  can be given  to employees to  take
  204. home, only  if they  work or  are being  trained at the same
  205. site.  In other  words, a Federal Express  regional training
  206. center located  at Memphis, Tennessee  could  make unlimited
  207. copies  of  the  "Student's  version" for in-house training.
  208. However,  other   regional  training   centers  located   in
  209. Seattle, Washington and Tampa, Florida would be required  to
  210. purchase additional licenses.

  212. 3) Lastly,  if you  plan on  selling your  quizzes, you will
  213. have  to  first  receive  permission  from  the  author, and
  214. secondly, there will be a royalty arrangement required.

  216. An  evaluation  copy  of  the  "Student's  version"  can  be
  217. obtained on our 24-hour BBS, at (540) 372-9680.

  219. The  above  arrangements  pertain  only  to  the  "Student's
  220. version" of  Create A  Quiz.   The "Teacher's  version" will
  221. always be sold on an individual basis.  We do not grant  any
  222. one  the  privilege   to  make  unlimited   copies  of   the
  223. "Teacher's  version".   There  are  discounted site licenses
  224. available if you  contact the author  with the total  number
  225. of copies you require.
